Please note that we are due to withdraw our service between London and Nairobi from 23 September 2012.
The decision to withdraw this service is due to external factors, including increasing costs and a challenging economic environment in both Kenya and Europe during the past five years.“These are still challenging times for the airline industry and we have to deploy our aircraft to routes with the right levels of customer demand to be financially viable,” Julie Southern, Chief Commercial Officer, Virgin Atlantic.
The last service from London Heathrow to Nairobi (VS671) will operate on 23 September 2012 and the last service from Nairobi to London Heathrow (VS672) will operate 24 September 2012.

Around the world in taxi!
London: Three Britons in their 20s have undertaken a record-breaking trip around the world in a cab, travelling over 43,000 miles (over 69,000 km) and putting 80,000 pounds (about $128,600) on the meter. The three friends — Paul Archer, 25, Leigh Purnell, 24, and Johno Ellison, 28 — drove across four continents and 50 different countries in their trusty diesel motor, affectionately called Hannah, the Daily Express reported.
What an interesting story!
You be the judge at Tsogo Sun’s MasterChef themed Wednesday night dinners
Every Tuesday night South Africans make themselves comfortable in front of the television to watch Mnet’s MasterChef SA, the themed dishes prepared and the reaction of the judges. Tsogo Sun, proud hospitality host of MasterChef South Africa, put their hearts and souls into mastering the art of fine food and launched a unique initiative, Wednesday Night Dinners, to provide the viewers with an opportunity to become more involved. At the Wednesday Night Dinners, Tsogo Sun Chefs will infuse your taste buds with dishes similar to the challenge of the previous night that was featured on the television show.
One of the judges on the show, Benny Masekwameng is also the Executive Chef at Tsogo Sun, MondoVino Restaurant. Truly a South African homegrown treasure, Benny was lured into the art of preparing and cooking food by his mother, who supplied meals to construction workers in Alexandra Township as an additional income. Benny believes it is this early start in his mom’s kitchen that set him off on his impressive culinary journey. After graduating in Catering Management at the Natal Technikon, Benny held various positions throughout South Africa and joined Tsogo Sun in 2006.

Ferry disaster – India leaves 200 dead
Not a great story to read on this workers day of an over crowded Indian ferry that split into 2 killing over 200 people:
Hopes dimmed Tuesday of finding more survivors after an overcrowded ferry split in two and sank in northeast India, leaving more than 100 dead and around 100 missing.
Travel chuckle
1. I had a New Hampshire Congresswoman (Carol Shea-Porter) ask for an aisle seat so that her hair wouldn’t get messed up by being near the window. (On an airplane!)
2. I got a call from a Kansas Congressman’s (Moore) staffer (Howard Bauleke), who wanted to go to Cape Town. I started to explain the length of the flight and the passport information, and then he interrupted me with, ”I’m not trying to make you look stupid, but Cape Town is in Massachusetts …”
Without trying to make him look stupid, I calmly explained, ”Cape Cod is in Massachusetts , Cape Town is in South Africa …”
His response — click.
